Since its inception on December 10, 1993, when it was decreed by the Prime Minister, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has had a substantial impact on higher education in Vietnam for the past three decades. At present, VNU has developed into a thriving center for education and research, with 37 members and connected units. These include 16 service units, 9 universities, 4 affiliated schools, 6 research institutes, 2 training and research centers, and 2 institutes of higher education. This paper presents an exhaustive examination of the research outputs of VNU spanning the years 1993 to 2023. It emphasizes the university's significant contributions to the Scopus Database, which contains more than 10,000 document records, and the Web of Science Database, which contains more than 9,100 records. The research study thoroughly examines the statistical data and analyses pertaining to these outputs, considering many factors including number, quality, subjects, authors, and collaborations. This report presents an exhaustive assessment of the research outputs of VNU spanning a period of thirty years. It emphasizes the efficacy of institutional measures in bolstering scientific production and fostering innovation.
